    Porting landline to mobile

I have a voip number which used to be a landline which I am now unable to port to Shaw Digital Phone due to the fact that it is not in the same exchange as I am now. Wondering if Fido is able to port it. I thought I recall Fido had some exclusive right to port landlines in the CityFido days. Not sure about the state of LNP or WNP these days. It seems like I am stuck with not being able to port my number anywhere now that I moved. I'd appreciate some help directing me to the right forum if need be.

When I moved and tried to take my landline number with me, I was told it could only be set up within a certain suburb (where I have never lived, so I don't know how they set it up in the first place). I tried taking it to a digital home line and got the same response. After that, I set it up as a spare cell number on Fido, and there were no problems, other than it taking a week to go through (which I'm told landlines usually do). I don't know much about VOIP numbers, but if the only problem is the exchange, then it should work just fine.
