only wifi on unlocked T-mobile 8900 (wont let me browse through gprs/edge)

I got an unlocked T-mobile 8900, but i can seem browse the internet unless it's through wifi. I get this message saying something like "Wi-Fi is required" I read something on th net that says it has 2 different browsers. One for wifi and one for gprs/edge. I can't seem to find how to access the other browser. I can only find "Hotspot Browser".

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thats weird that you only have a hotspot browser. You sure you don't have a regular browser in your main menu? Also you can switch between using wifi and your mobile network but I don't remember exactly how at the moment.

i know atm i'm still trying to register my bb on my provider's website. Could that be the problem? Once it registers it becomes available?

Yea that sounds right. If you're not set up on the network then you're not going to get any gsm service.

You won't be able to browse on the regular browser until the device is registered on the network.

I finally got it registered on the network with the help of a sales rep at a corporate store. It took about 5 mins. After that, new icons appeared on my phone. As well as the other browser options.

yea the browser icon will pop up, among others, once the service books are sent when the phone is first registered on the network. without registering on the network you wont get the service books for the browser pushed to the phone.
