Removing Data plan from an AT&T Bold?

Amazon has a great deal on the Bold. I'd like to get the phone for my son, but want the option of removing the data plan from his account later on. As long as his account is good standing (without the data plan) will there be an issue with the price rebate and a gift card Amazon they is offering?

Also, will an AT&T sim card from a 2g Curve operate in an AT&T Bold in 3g and will corporate email configed on the Curve sim work as well when moved to the Bold?

    Thanks.

As far as I know, AT&T will automatically add the $30 data plan to your account, once the IMEI number from the Bold is detected. Also, you will be able to pick up a 3G signal on the new Bold with your current SIM card, as long as 3G is available in your area.

what he said... you can call in and tell the rep that you changed your phone and give them the imei of a non smart phone however once AT&t detects the imei they (we) will add the 30.00 data plan..
