    911 - 75c eff April 1st

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but:

Effective Thursday, April 1, the 911 fee charged to wireless customers will increase to $0.75 from $0.50. Starting Monday, March 1, monthly/postpaid customers will be notified by bill messages and prepaid customers by SMS. This increase does not apply to plans with the Government Regulatory Recovery fee.
Remember, this only affects the old skool people on pre-GRRF plans

    wtf!!!!! This is absurd!

So quick...do the math. Going from a saf plan to a non saf plan was what...13cents cheaper? or was it more?

So 25cents-13cents is 12cents...are you ahead or behind then?..hmmmm forfeit $200 max ecf...or suck up the extra $3/yr I'm gonna pay more?

The GRRF* way ended up making monthly costs more, by $0.13
With this supposed change April 1st, the GRRF way will be $0.12 cheaper.

*Basing the GRRF on it being $2.58, and the SAF $6.95

Time to change the $17.50 EPP with SAF+E911 to the $17.50 EPP with GRRF and get ahead of the game again :P

I agree. This is BS. If the cost for e911 had gone up, GRRF should go up as well. This is completely bogus.

I remember when telus did it... they kept saying "with the increase of e911 to $0.75, we will earn $x more money". There was absolutely no talk of this money going to PSAPs or anything to do with 911.

Not to reopen an old can of worms, but this seems to me to be an increase in the base fee we're paying now for our wireless contracts. That is, it isn't simply an add-on that we can cancel; it's part of the plan we agreed upon under contract. Can they really do this? Is it some kind of joke? This seems to me to be just really bizarre.

Okay this is really pissing me off... Within the past year so much BS has happened within Rogers...

    Increased Home Phone prices
    LPIF fee
$25 increased to $50 for overusing internet.
    GRRF
    Shrunken LCA...

Why am I still with them again?

Time to call in and complain about the increase and try to get them to waive the SAF.

Well you have a couple choices, switch out of your good plans to a crappy plan due to a .25c increase. Boo frickin hoo. Telus and Bell both had .75c 911 for a long long time. Also with higher SAF's. So I dont see why you all are flipping your lids on it. Last of the big three to charge for incomming text, last to change a lot of things. WOW.

Girl, you're just askin to get flamed...
Did you even read what I posted!?
I'm more angry at the fact they keep changing (in a bad way) and introducing/increasing fees, it's no the extra 28 cents where people here are mad about...

It's not even 6 months before something is changed again! Which in the end is more for them and less for us...

Not just Rogers Wireless, but Rogers in GENERAL...

Curiously I just received my invoice (billing period ending Mar 27) for an account with 2 wireless lines - both with the old SAF/911. There was no reference at all to an increasing fee for 911. In light of the advance notice requirement I don't see that they can increase the 911 charge next month for billing period ending Apr 27 with no notice. Perhaps it will kick in the following month, but I was more than a little bit surprised to see no bulletin after having read the news on this forum.

So the question I have would be, is this fee considered a material change unfavorable to the customer given they are increasing the cost and I do not believe the 911 fee is a government mandated or regulated one? As such can we not now simply opt out of our contract penalty free in accordance with the CWTA Code of Conduct which Rogers is a part of?
