Actually, I saw you report some sites with band 2 at 15 mhz. I bet those sites get band 29.
Doubt the Thumb will get b29 anytime soon. No real benefit over b2 or b5.

Well, one benefit is that it is a download secondary carrier. No upload channel is paired with it, so it requires less bandwidth to deploy. It also does not affect b5 as it can be left for coverage only where there is no band 17, or where band 17 is only 5 MHz. Also, they have 5 mhz Nationwide and here in the Northeast megalopolis, 10 MHz of download. As well as southern Cali.

The Thumb is AT&T's red headed step child in Michigan. Now that there's 10x10 b2 and 5x5 b5 we won't be seeing any more upgrades for a long time. 15x15 is most likely enough spectrum for quite some time here.

You'd be surprised. They're really cranking up spending this year. Time will tell.

Went for a ride in the Thumb this evening. Nothing really new to report except Port Sanilac now has a 10x10 B2 LTE overlay.

The tower at Clear Lake road and M53 is still having issues. Devices don't want to connect to B2 LTE running on that site.

Went for a ride in northwest Michigan this afternoon and was surprised to see how well the network is running now. Many of the sites are running B4+B5 LTE CA including this one I am posting. This one is identical to many other wooden mono's across northern MI which makes me wonder what's taking so long to upgrade at least some of those. Going on 3 years since UMTS upgrades.

Yeah it looks kinda rough doesn't it....like a #BallBusterChallenge.Lol That mono site is identical to the one up here in Lewiston and I seen them working on it a few years ago. They used a truck with a bucket lift on it.

I can confirm that all sites in the Thumb are now on Enet.

    Excellent news!

B2 LTE has popped up in the Traverse City area. First sighting of B2 in northern MI I believe.

Hopefully that means they will be upgrading the remaining sites this spring?

I'm not an insider with AT&T nor do I have any inside info. However, from my experiences in the past once AT&T launched Enet on a site(s), LTE follows within a few months if the sites are physically prepped for LTE.

    +1

I noticed in rural areas, AT&T will upgrade a majority of the backhaul in the winter, then in the spring and summer put up the lte hardware.

This is because for the last year, or so, sites only get converted to Enet if they are planned to get LTE soon after.
