sero and upgrade phone what are the choices?

I am due for an upgrade in 11 days and would like to get a phone I can tether with without buying software to do it. I have a BB8830 now and I tried tetherberry and was not too impressed as I could only get dial up speeds anywhere I tried it and that will not work out too well. I only tether at most 10 times a week for about 10-15 minutes a shot so I do not use excessive data but when I need to check something on the laptop I really need to use the laptop. Any suggestions on a new phone or other ideas would be appreciated.

Do yourself a favor. Go to this thread, follow the instructions, save yourself the Upgrade for something better (or not at all) and hassle of another 2 yr commitment and be happy

I read the thread you referred to a few times and have a few questions. First, what is the MSL/SPC I need and will Sprint give me a hassle about getting it? Second I reviewed my data usage and to be honest it is LOW, it goes between 7-8000 kilobytes per month, if it starts rising rapidly will they review or cancel my account? If I decide not to do this what can I buy on Ebay/CL that I can tether with over wi-fi cheaply with something like WMwifirouter? This a last resort as I like the BB8830 but the web on it honestly sucks.
