    HP buys Palm

    HP?

That came out of nowhere... But it is better then some no name ODM buying them and pillaging the company. HP has a serious history in computing, just like Palm.

based on the call, it sounds like HP is ready to put some real money behind webOS and use it in a whole ecosystem of tablets and devices. Palm will remain (relatively) intact and form a separate division inside HP.

Should be exciting, HP's mobile lineup has been WM garbage for years. Palm has just the solution for that.

Definitely came out of nowhere, especially when most were thinking Lenovo or HTC were going to buy Palm.

Still a good thing, IMO, as Palm was running out of cash (sound familiar?) and needed to be bought out to turn the company around.

    Well hotdamn!
I was beginning to fear that WebOS was a dead end but the reports I've read suggest (blatantly) that HP views it as their prized asset and is willing to 'scale' it across multiple form factors (read slates and netbooks)!

I'm all for WebOS being on a device other than the unwieldy and plasticky current offerings from Palm.
Hopefully HP can do that for them.
