    New DSAPA

    Effective June 20th or 30th. (I can't remember which.)

    Old
    Length: 12 months data term
Penalty: Flat $200 if removed before 12 months

    New
    Length: Same as voice term
Penalty: Full data subsidy, prorated based on months remaining

Monthly reduction: (Data Subsidy / Term Length)

    Example
iPhone - $300 data subsidy, 36 month term.
    (300 / 36) = DSAPA reduces by $8.33 each month.

BB Curve - $175 data subsidy, 36 month term.
    (175 / 36 ) = DSAPA reduces by $4.86 each month.

Some Random Dates and their DSAPA (iPhone Example)
    Month 0: $300
    Month 6: $250
    Month 12: $200
    Month 18: $150
    Month 24: $100
    Month 30: $50
    Month 36: $0

Some Random Dates and their DSAPA (BlackBerry Example)
    Month 0: $175
    Month 6: $146
    Month 12: $116
    Month 18: $88
    Month 24: $58
    Month 30: $29
    Month 36: $0

    Welcome to 36mo data contracts!

I Expect Rogers/Telus to be aligned if not identical.

$300 DECF on the iPhone? Lol, Bell is a joke for a carrier. Sadly now the other 2 will follow suit "too align with industry blah, blah, blah. Thanks Bell. Who dreams up this garbage? $400 Voice+ $300 Data ECF? iPhone is $799 no contract! Seriously????

They won't be able to pull this in Quebec after the bill passes. Unreal!

i thought Rogers already had a "3 year term" on data plans, although the fee to remove it was flat rate (like $100 or something)...i don't remember though, it was a couple of years ago when i contemplated adding a data plan to my BB but chose not to.
    Sammy740: It's ironically called BlueChips...something Bell isn't.
Bell's new marketing slogan: Over promise, Under deliver.
"System Access Fees are charged by all wireless companies to help pay for the network and the ongoing software, technology and other upgrades to that network. Generally, the higher the fee, the greater the opportunity to invest in network quality to enhance your experience. Just one more reason to choose Bell. "

This was actually in direct response to (and is in full compliance with) Quebec Bill 60, which comes into effect June (30th?)

These changes are to fit into compliance with Quebec Bill 60. (And come out on top in my opinion. )

No idea about the iPhone release date.

Okay does the Bill not have something to do with ECF cannot be greater than the subsidy given on a phone?

    $400 Voice
    $300 Data
    Total
    $700

Subsidy on iPhone 3G[S] $799 full price subsidized to $299, $799-$299= $500, thats $200 over subsidy. Or am I missing something?

    Yeah, it does.

Quebec clients will have a maximum voice SAPA of hardware subsidy ($200)

Everyone else still has the maximum $400 SAPA, plus this new DSAPA system.

Wow, so Telus finally comes down to earth with their ECF, now Bell drops in and Telus will go right back up o the $700 range. This is insane I cannot believe our politicians allow this practice. $700 to cancel a cell phone? 90% of Canadians will sign anything to get the cheap iPhone too. Bell is completely off their rockers. No shame at all.

customers have the power to speak with their wallets...if you don't like it, don't buy it...they will have no choice to change if no one is buying their products.

Customers are the reason why this changed.

More customers should learn to STFU.

Quebec clients will have a maximum voice SAPA of hardware subsidy ,but it's not $200, Bell can say Nokia 2730 retail price is $399, and 3 years term price $0, then voice SAPA of hardware subsidy will be $399

If it's that easy, our government is a joke.

    Yeah this is true.

I said $200 because that's currently the most Bell gives out as a hardware voice subsidy.

They could easily start adding the $100 "LTO" voice offerings to all the hardware like they used to for new activations.
