What?? That would be almost impossible to implement...what if the site is hosted at multiple locations? Furthermore, how does the customer know if the website he is visiting, is hosted in his "home zone" or outside? Also, if you live in "nowhere ontario" where there are no datacenters, everything would be LD Data...
The only thing that i can see working is if you physically leave your zone and then try to access data (sort of whats described in the $50/$80 plans in terms of data). Even then its a complete ripoff, as the number of hops it takes to get a packet of data across long distances has nothing to do with the price and more to do with network saturation at the time, etc. You can be in the same house but on two different providers (i.e. Rogers & Bell) and the hops (route) that data takes to go to and from a website in Vancouver could very well be completely different between Rogers / Bell and even different for customers on the same provider...

i've this plan (SAV204011X) on my BB and SAV36012G on my Iphone. I did the *#123# on my BB, it says i'm within the zone. Any suggestions on how to switch to an unzoned plan?
^ When did you get ur plan?
I got it just few days ago. Thanks
I got my plan just over a month to 2 months ago.... am I eligible for an unzoned plan?
You are only eligible for the unzoned plan if you got it before May 26, 2010. If you got the plan after, and you remember the CRR telling you about it being unzoned (you can make local calls without any extra charges anywhere as long as you are in the Fido network), then you can try requesting that a supervisor review your phone conversation when you obtained the plan. You would have also had to have incurred out-of-zone fees in order to make a complaint to have this process started.
If you didn't know the unzoned plans existed when you got the plan (if after May 26, 2010), then you most likely are not eligible.

Thanks for the reply guys.
Ahh,… finally: No Tariff Area information available!
All local calls are free!
Question: So all 800 number are free anywhere in Canada (on Rogers or Fido network) right?
is data still zoned on this plan?
