I checked out BerryMod.com, and registered. I'll let everyone know if they're still giving out the codes, hoping so. But I'll definitely find out what the deal with AT&T is too, I'm not going to let that slide either.
Thanks

Honestly, if you are going over seas soon and need your phone unlocked, I would seriously consider looking into getting an unlock code elsewhere. Crackberry has a subforum specifically for unlocking, and there are multiple vendors who (if in a good mood) will give you an unlock code for cheap, if not free.
Personally, I got mine for free through berrymod, as they were giving out free codes for registering to their site....not sure if they are still doing that or not; worth a check.
Regardless, you shouldn't have to be doing this in the first place as AT&T should have no problems giving out unlock codes to customers in good standing.

UPDATE: Berrymods.com did provide the code, and it worked! I'd go that route for now folks. Still waiting on AT&T whenever they decide to get a move on.

Darn, wish I had known that before I plunked down $9.99 for a code.
Oh well. I'll survive.
Glad it worked out for you SiliconValley!
I noticed the change roughly two weeks ago.
In the past AT&T always had the unlock code for a device regardless of how long you've been a customer or how long you've owned the device. It was, however, up to the CSR as to whether they wanted to abide by company policy and inform customers that there are requirements they need to meet before handing over the code.
Now systems don't even provide an unlock code for certain phones (particularly exclusives). From what I can tell, unlock codes for all 9700's will be available in September. 10 months.
What doesn't make sense here is the original Bold is >10 months old. Why does AT&T get to claim exclusivity on that as well? My bill is current, My contract is nearly up, they should have coughed up the code.
Its a shame I can't sue over $10.00.
Ok, got the story from AT&T. The case worker I was assigned got the code from a coworker, and obviously it was right. He still hasn't adequately explained how he got it done versus how we do it normally. He said he technically broke the rules when he gave me the code via email, but didn't seem to be too concerned about it.
