Tried .977 Hitz on my Nexus One and it gives me the "Connection Dropped" error message then tries several times after that but it does eventually play. I let it play for over 30 minutes on my phone with no problems, also check out this similar thread in the Telus forum, check out the CRTC link on that page by Que_Ball #11 as well:

inet.bell.ca won't help. I am having the same problems streaming from my laptop with a USB datacard.

    I think clewis4u91 is right:

It might be a Canadian thing, the same stations should be tested on Telus, Rogers, WIND, etc. Odd though that playing these stations through WiFi works even though I have a Canadian ISP.

^Dster has already confirmed (on the previous page) that the stations work fine when using a Rogers SIM.

Also experiencing this issue on HSPA network. If I turn on Wifi I can stream no problem. Streaming was working fine on the CDMA network as of at least a few months ago and I assume it still is. Why the discrimination? Bell, any plans to fix this?

    Hi folks,

to confirm, I tested the *.aol.com shoutcast streams on Telus and then Bell this summer (they are using the same network, at least in the maritimes). No go, with loads of BS excuses from tech support from each.

I am now on a Rogers SIM, with EVERY DAMN STREAM WORKING on shoutcast.

It is my belief that Bell is acting illegally, given CRTC policy.

FYI, there is a Telus thread with a load of angry people who would appreciate any additional noise that can be made. I am contacting reporters with any media outlet that will listen -- I ask that you do the same.

It looks like Bell fixed something (in the last week) because 97.7 is working for me now.

I was recently in the US with a AT&T SIM and 97.7 was working (on AT&T 3G) - as expected.

When I got home and switched back to the Bell SIM, it was working now. Previously, 977 would repeatedly connect, then drop right away as others have noted.

I've been checking 977 periodically over the last day using XiiaLite. I also verified on a second phone using tunewiki. I checked the various 977 streams as well as some other random selections .

The aol shoutcast streams seem to be working properly now in GTA west (for me). APN= pda.bell.ca

    Where are you located?

Try the following stream and let me know if it works for you. When I try it through the data network, it fails to connect with core player. As soon as I turn on wifi, it connects fine. Also in Toronto.
