what kind of month-to-month voice/data (iphone) plan did you manage to get?

my apologies for the semi-redundant thread, but i just want to focus on the voice/data plans for people who refuse to sign contracts. i just got the factory-unlocked iphone 4 and want to to speak to retentions to see what i can get.

i've been with fido since 2002, never been on a contract, and dont want to be on one anytime soon. i currently dont have a data plan, but will obviously need one now.

anyone who is not on a contract, please share what kind of good deal you got on your voice/data plan. thanks!

I have asked them a number of times about bringing my own unlocked iPhone to see what discount I can get on a month-to-month basis and they say no more than I am getting now and that whatever plan you have is the best you'll get.

this is the plan i got yesterday:

    200 mins
    local f2f
    e/w 7pm
    2500 sms
    cid/vm
    flex data
    $42 (or $57 if i reach 1gb)

i was also offered 3gb instead of flex data for $61

has anyone gotten a better month-to-month plan?

    You pay no 911 Fee?

Anyway, your plan no better and probably worse than you'd get if on contract from what I see in the threads. I'm paying $8.75 more and getting unlimited minutes, same 2500SMS/CID/VM and 6GB data. If you reach a mere 1GB data you are paying $6.25 + tax per month more than me and if you reach 3GB you pay $10.25 + tax per month more than me)

Not being on contract is so overrated. 3 years from now you'll find you paid a lot more over 3 years for your phone and paid full price to replace your phone. Makes zero sense. Not being under contract means your price plan is not protected and can change at any time, you have zero bargaining power when threatening to leave, you'll pay the same rates at other carriers if you do leave and over time you just pay more money (which means your plan has to be that much better than other plans to make up for the extra money you've been wasting every month not being under contract! lol)

i realize that going on contract will get you better plans - that's a give-in. this isnt a thread about whether or not its better to be on a contract. we all have our reasons... but thanks for the info

anyone else out there going month-to-month?

I agree, sorry. But, I am curious as to what your reason is as the only one I've heard that makes sense is that "I'm moving to another country soon".

Me, so I'm reading with interest, but I haven't been with them long enough to get any kind of retention deal yet.

I've currently got the $25 garden plan with the $15 value pack.

    That gives me:
    100 min
    e/w 5pm
    unlimited sms
    cid/vm
    unlimited mobile browsing

    So $41.18 with 911 fee.

I'm happy with the features, so I'd mostly like to reduce the price, if possible, although any MMS or Canadian LD thrown in would be nice.

The general consensus on the retention thread is that after about 3 months you should be able to get a better package that yours for less than $25.00 from retentions.

And for the OP $30.00 or less with the $10 100 MB flex data added on.

...and no contract? that's pretty good. when did you get this plan?

retentions told me that the 6gb wasnt available for non-contract customers.

    That is correct.

6GB plan = 3 yr. ONLY And IIRC the 17.50$ plan too.

I would think you have all the bargaining power if you are NOT on contract as you can leave at any time. When you are on contract you will have to pay ECF fees which prevents many people leaving.

    200 mins anytime + 50 bonus (3 yr contract)
    Unlimited evenings + weekends @ 5pm
    Call display, Voice mail
    Fido - Fido
    Fido - Rogers
    2500 txt messages
    6gb data
First 3 months of unlimited local calling

    45 + HST = 50.85 a month X 2

I've been with Fido for quite some time but never in a contract. I think they jumped at the chance. I have to Iphone 4s on my contract. (me + GF) It took me 2 days of calling periodically, but I finally got this and i'm 110% happy with it.
