    Application Permissions

I was going to try a recommended free App call Gas Log.

It is simple enough input how much you spent, number of gallon or litres and it calculates millage.

But then I seen it wants access to the network and phone book ????

I changed my mind about downloading it.

Was I wrong, it just seems Apps often ask for too much.

I find it difficult to decipher what permissions are ok and which ones might be suspect. Not sure why it would need access to contacts. You should be able to email the developer and ask him why?

I look at how many downloads the app has had so far and read the reviews too. That can sometimes help me decide whether I trust it or not.

it quite likely accesses the internet to look up the prices in a data base. or possibly the app has ads

if you're ever unsure, read lots of user comments about the app. also, look up other apps by the same developer and read the comments of each app
