Forced into AT&T, want to use T-mobile Pearl

I have been forced to switch to AT&T because I am currently with Alltel. I just received an email saying that I need to upgrade my phone, but I don't like any of the phones that they carry. I really like my Blackberry Pearl, and I have a spare that I bought a while back just to charge my extra battery, but it is a T-mobile phone. Since T-mobile is GSM and so is AT&T, could I just use my T-mobile Pearl on the new AT&T service if I installed the AT&T SIM on the T-Mobile Pearl? It seems way to simple and uncomplicated, but I am hoping somebody can tell me if it is possible.

Yes. You need to get the phone unlocked and it should work fine.

All carriers have BlackBerry Pearls. AT&T has a Pearl which runs on its 3G network. It may be nearly impossible to get a nonbranded BlackBerry to work correctly on another network.

Shouldn't be that hard to get that T-Mobile Pearl working on AT&T once it is unlocked. You will just need a BlackBerry specific data plan, and you should be all set.
