Home tower with just Verizon and the Speedtest after with both networks enabled. I believe this feature disables 4x4 MIMO. A 60 mbps difference is quite substantial

Definitely useable , lot of people are using their phones. They could do LAA and CBRS until they launch 5G NR. Blistering speeds are coming for LA as that densify and deploy their mmW for 2019

Very typical comparison between AT&T and Verizon in this market.

Yep... that definitely seems to be the case from all of the tests I've run while in the area this week. Used to not be this way though... AT&T was at one point, superior in the Chicago market.

I ended up getting my parents (who have had AT&T since the mid-90s when it was Cellular One) switched over to Verizon's 55+ plan on Sunday, they seem happy with the better service.

I remember when AT&T owned this market, I had them for all of that time. Then they started downhill here in 2014, caught up again in 2016 but by then Verizon surpassed them in cell density, then in 2017 with unlimited, everything went to hell and they haven’t caught up since. It’s only gotten worse even as they continue adding spectrum to sites. Verizon has been getting more congested as they pick up more and more market share but they still handle it very well.

yup same here ATT was king then idk wtf happen but ever since 2015 its crap and keeps getting worse, then when att turn off 2g but doesnt put LTE in its place, i mean they did but only where ppl lived and shop at...theres a huge gap now where there was 2g now its a dead zone i would say a good 2 miles of road, my guess is that ppl dont go on that road much at all BUT there was service there before...ive talk with ppl live on or near the road and got ATT cause it was the only service that worked, they are very mad and even went to att stores and even called as well, att said they were sorry and was giving them $20 credits for 3-4 months...and im guessing that 90% of them prob went to vzw.

ATT stock is down been down and will stay down till they fix their network

Verizon has the highest pings of all 4 carriers in my city. Other carriers pings are in the 30ms range, but Verizon is normally in the 60-90ms range. Any ideas why? Older cell panels maybe or older RRUs?

Still get the same result. Verizon’s pings are always much higher.

It’s gotta be a tower thing where Verizon is using older equipment, or maybe something backhaul related I guess.

Speeds hanging in there in my area despite mounting growth in market share as people continue to flee a certain other carrier that only adds spectrum to its sites and still hasn’t addressed any of their glaring coverage issues. Just a few sites on Verizon that have glaring issues and need total redos or small cells to supplement them.

Appears to be in the early stages as of now, but Verizon has finally filed for small cells around my mall area. These are the first in the entire metro to be filed. Verizon is very far behind Sprint and AT&T currently in both filings and deployments.
