    WIND coming to Manitoba soon!

Yesterday, while I was working [I work in a mall in Winnipeg], I was approached by a young man looking for WIND Mobile recruits. I heard that others were approached as well, primarily those already working for cell phone companies.

Interesting. Over Christmas I saw someone on twitter say they were surprised to find WIND works in Manitoba (they were from Ottawa). I thought they just meant that it was WIND AWAY.

Can someone in Winnipeg do a scan and see if they pick up anything?

Only certain phones will pick it up. My FIDO IPhone only picks up other networks while scanning when I'm outside Winnipeg or Manitoba. I do find one other network but its obfuscated (i.e BF001K...).

    I'm going to switch over!

I doubt it's anytime soon. This is a good indicator of the upcoming cities to go live. Anything else is probably over a year away.

I put about as much faith in CNAC (where that data is pulled from) as I do in TAFL. It's likely 90% accurate and 90% complete, but that still leaves a lot of room for error.

iPhones do not see the Wind network in scans

Of course but have we seen a situation where towers are up in cities where there's no numbers assigned?

Not that I know of. You often see numbers assigned way in advance of any towers going online.

If you see that man or get approached again, ask them about a launch timeframe and see what they say.

Not anymore. Before the Toronto launch WIND's network was (still?) broadcasting in such a way that it allowed phones with Band 1 (that's the iPhone) to "see" it.

Hmm... just notice the CNA info isn't up to date. For Toronto 647-778 says it's only "Assigned" but I know someone who activated recently with that number. Shouldn't it be "In Service"?

Yes, but that's based on WIND reporting back that it's active and database being updated. It's unlikely you will see a number that's not at least assigned being used anywhere.

If they somehow did Winnipeg and Brandon, and before the MTS/Rogers 3G launch, I'd pay to cancel. Brandon's very unlikely of course. Would be nice to see them up and running soon! if only

I checked out Victoria and the status says "Being Recovered". Its the only one that has that for the status. Any idea what that means?
