Facetime not working on IPhone 4 using straight talk service also visual voicemail

hey all! newb here....just followed sticky on how to setup iphone 4 with straight talk service.

Phone, web and regular texting working great...

I opted not to do the jailbreak yet so I am unable to send picture messages...

By not doing the Jailbreak is that also keeping face time from not working?

Ive tried going into settings and enabling facetime but as soon as I exit out and go back in to make sure its enabled it says off again....

Ive tried enabliing it while im connected to WIFI and it still wont enable....

Anybody know how I can get face time to work?

Also anyway to enable visual voicemail?

Facetime should work from what I've been told. Might try swappin SIMs (even with a dead/old SIM) & back and try again.

Visual voice mail through the phone app isn't possible with ST, as it requires your voicemail to be on a certain set of VM servers and the SIM provisioned for the VVM APN (which can't be done if you're not on postpaid at&t).
You might be able to use YouMail, Google Voice, or some 3rd party VVM service and forward your unanswered calls to it (YMMV).

Visual voicemail requires backend (carrier) support, there's no way to enable it unless your carrier supports it and provisions your account accordingly.

FaceTime is Wi-Fi only at this point. Not sure why it wouldn't work over Wi-Fi.

alright did the jailbreak, able to send pic messages but still unable to get facetime to work...

everytime I enable it under settings it just turns itself back off..

I even tried downloading the facenow app with no luck... Any Ideas?

It should work just fine, its worked on every phone I have set up on ST. Reboot your phone and turn on facetime again. Also try installing My3G then try turning on facetime again.

Be sure WiFi is turned on, got settings, wifi, then switch it to on.

That's incorrect. FaceTime was able to activate with my ST sim.

Did you do the initial setup through Straight Talk or were you using it prior to joining Straight Talk? Once it is set up, it follows the Apple ID. The carrier is no longer involved since it uses Wi-Fi.

I set it up with only Straight Talk. I've never had AT&T service. I'm restoring my phone soon, so I'll know the exact steps in a few weeks.

Restoration should have no effect upon Facetime unless you change your Apple ID. FaceTime can be initially set up using any carrier which allows the sending of an international text message. That is the only time the carrier is involved.
