    You can unlock the Galaxy S Captivate with a $5 app from the market. You have to be rooted, but that phone has a one click root program available for free online.

    yeap you can definitely unlock it via rooting, but there a couple of things with that

    1. It voids your warranty
    2. If you don't know what your doing it can ruin your device.

    But if your confident in what your doing then by all means.

    Unlock via remote code, is the same method carriers will use to unlock their device.
