Yes, to all of above. If you look at the filesystem and files on there, you will realize very quickly that it is classic WinMo. In fact, you will find tons of binaries on it which aren't even run or possible to run anymore. Its pretty funny actually that they couldn't spend a few hours doing some housecleaning.

Tons of phones meet it, but obviously nobody is going to give you WP7 for free. My HD2 doesn't meet it only because it doesn't have a "dedicated camera button," but it runs WP7 just fine. Another silly requirement just to force you to buy a new phone...case and point is the HTC HD7, which has the same hardware as the HD2 but less RAM/smaller ROM.

If you can break the security layer on there, you can easily run any exe designed for WinMo on it. However, Microsoft disabled this because they want apps to be consistent and highly controlled by them (ala Apple). You can also do the same with the Zune.

So to conclude, same old WinCE core as WinMo with a few new extras and kernel updates. Otherwise, not much has changes from a backend perspective.

That's ridiculous. that's like saying every unix based OS is the same.

No, its like saying WinCE 5.0 to 6.0 is hardly a significant update. You can easily obtain this information via a simple google search. In fact, even if they used the full 7.0 kernel instead of just backporting features, it would still have been a few simple kernel and userspace updates.
Otherwise, it is fully binary and driver source compatible. You probably don't even need to recompile most drivers.

That caught me by surprise. I know it didn't launch for $360... but it is currently for sale at $360. I knew I wasn't crazy.

Why not direct this comment to the person trying to argue that the xt720 @ $360 = $350?

The majority of people on Wind are there to save money, so they'll look at plans first, and phones second. The ones that complain about the lack of superphones (us), are usually also the ones smart enough to go the extra mile and find unlocked AWS devices.

Having said that, if they get the Nexus S, they'll finally have a proper flagship device...I don't see them getting any "exclusives" until they reach 500,000 or 1 000 000 customers though.
Right now I think WINDs user base is pretty evenly split between two types of people.

    1) The people who want to save and get the cheapest phone possible

    2) The tech-heads (most of us here) who want the "superphones"

Just looking at those two categories, which one of the two would be likely to buy the C7??

I would say none. The person who wants the cheapest phone possible is going to look at the price tag and compare it to other expensive phone or a Blackberry/iPhone and the tech-head is going to think they can spend $350 on something better.....

agree, i was shocked at the price tag.
i actually read it a few times to make sure it said 3-5-0, and sure enough it does.
the C7 probably should have been priced somewhere in the 200s.

You're really gonna make a big deal about $10? Grow up.
