    GMail problem deleting email

I have gmail setup on the phone using exchange. Everything works great, syncs great. Contacts too. Problem is when I delete or move a message to the trash (on the phone), it strips the label from the message.

Looking in the trash the message is not there (on the phone or in the web interface of gmail). Looking under all mail, the message is there. Anyone know how to fix this or what the problem is?

Previous phone was the droid x. Thanks.

What is the problem you are trying to resolve, that the email still existing under All Mail or that it's label was stripped?

The problem is that the email still exists, under All Mail. Doing some research on this issue it appears that when either deleting or moving a message to the trash, the message is being archived. Hence the reason why it's still located under All Mail. So I guess this isn't really a problem but just the way gmail is handled on the iPhone using exchange?

Deleting the message (like removing it completely) is what I would like to accomplish from the phone. Possible?

You already found the solution. Gmail is only deleted if you delete it from All Mail. On the iPhone in mail, drill down to all mail and delete should work.

That's one of the tradeoffs we all make with google. They are all about retaining data by default.

You probably have yours set up through Gmail rather than Microsoft Exchagne
