The Playbook is available on April 19th, some places are accepting pre-orders for delivery on the 19th. I've already ordered mine from Best Buy.

Will the PB sell as well as the iPad 2 at launch? I doubt it...

Ironic, yes, but perhaps good news for future AWS support in Canada.

Are all the retailers required to sell at the same price as is the case with Apple products, or are they at liberty to discount? Would Costco sell at a lower price?

Costco will be selling it lower, but I think it's $1 or less cheaper.

Good luck to anyone who plans on getting anything from Wind. Their inventory system is crap. I'm still waiting for my new E1691 and I got put on the pre-order list back in Feb.

There won't be far for them to go so you won't see serious discounts. Costco discounts iPods by $5, for example. Where the stores make their money is by selling accessories - they're basically a license to print money. That's why the salesmen pressure you into buying cables, cases, etc. I've even heard with something like a MP3 player the salesmen at BB/FS don't get any commission unless they sell it as a bundle.

Why did you link to T-Mobile UK, where they don't even use AWS?

    FIDO $60/10GB + 5 hours unlimited data
WIND $15 AITF unlimited data (10GB full speed)

wind isn't the only place you can pick up the playbook. Costco is the best place to buy electronic, 2 year warranty.

So based on the specs mentioned here "http://us.blackberry.com/playbook-tablet/BlackBerry_PlayBook_specs_us_v1.pdf" is this a pentaband device?

You linked T-Mobile UK, and RIM is only releasing a WiFi version.
