    AT&T Plan Up for Renewal

My AT&T contract is up and I'm wondering about my next move. I love the iPhone, so I'm not changing to anything else, but I definitely want to upgrade from my dear old iPhone 3G ... it's really starting to feel like a tired dog.

I spoke to AT&T cust serv about options and they really didn't seem too hungry to keep me as a customer. Is the best I can expect from them, with a new 2yr contract, a $200 iPhone 4 -- with the iPhone 5 about to come out in a few months?

    Should I switch to Verizon?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

There is speculation that the iP5 may not even come out this year. Could be September, could be late 2011, or even early 2012. No one really knows for sure yet.

I would try to sell your 3G and maybe put some money with it to get an iP4 outright (no contract) and then you can sell that one and get the newest one when it comes out, and even make money on the whole deal if you go with a new contract with the iP5.

If you like AT&T stay, if don't switch. The iPhone is selling too well for either to give discounts.
Seems like it is cool to have these in your sig?

Agreed. The iPhone has never been eligible for any additional discounts under any circumstances and not even asking for a manager will change that.

BTW: OP, don't forget that the next iPhone will be no cheaper with Verizon than with At&t. That's just how Apple does things.
    Just another day in paradise.....

    Do I sense a little "resentment" with At&t ??

I also left At&t to go with big red.

With the iPhone there is no budging Verizon or AT&T for a deal.....

If you are happy with AT&T hang in there and keep your roll over minutes.

If I were in your shoes I would sell the 3G before it loses all value but also wait to see if Apple announces
their IOS / iPhone plans in June.

It is literally worth someones job to discount an iPhone past the correct, system indicated pricing. Hell, a manager in my district got fired for selling an iPad 2 at 3pm when we instructed to not sell before 5pm. Anything Apple is a BIG no no.
My statements and opinions do not reflect those of my employer, AT&T Mobility. This is disclosed per FTC regulation.

Apple products, much like video game hardware, are sold at prices that are dictated by the manufacturer. And if the seller ever hopes to be able to receive more inventory, they better not sell it for less than what the manufacturer dictates (except in insignificant amounts like Walmart selling things at $xx.88 versus $xx.99.

If you look back at Black Friday from last year, both Target and Toys R Us had the iPod Touch as Black Friday specials, but rather than lowering the price, it still sold for the regular price but the Black Friday special was that you got a $30 or $50 gift card as well.

Really, you should switch to Android. But seriously, no, AT&T's network is faster and better.

    wait, what? *scratches head*

OP: Im an advocate of waiting. I agree with Patrick that you get something for your 3G and resell it depending on what comes out win....Dont feel like you have to sign your new contract the day your old one is up.
