Try hitting the volume keys (possibly both at once) when you see the exclamation point. In Froyo, you had to hit the search key, but in Gingerbread it's the volume buttons.

Long story short: Dropped my phone in water Tuesday, replacement phone got here today with Froyo still on it. The phone was working fine with Froyo. Upgraded to GB and now all I have is a blank screen with the bar at the top. I can't access anything or do anything. Did a battery pull and tried to do a recovery wipe but I can't get past the exclamation point. The search button does nothing.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yea after searching all over the net, I finally found that out. So for anyone else having the blank screen problem. You have to wipe recovery. Once you do the recovery wipe, voila GB is now installed and working fine. It was the weirdest thing ever. Everything has been running smoothly since the wipe.
