For everyone toting a Motorola with DROID marked somewhere on it

It now appears that Verizon Wireless is playing hardball with Motorola over the multiple bugs coming out of their shop and rejecting ALL new Gingerbread builds for ALL Motorola Mobility "DROID"-branded devices on the VZW network. What does this mean? Well, for those of you without Gingerbread, maybe a better version when it's finally released. Keep in mind, VZW rejected 3 Gingerbread builds from Motorola after they tweaked the Google source code with their skin, MotoBLUR.

I posted more about this on my personal blog here: http://apps.ke4qpf.com/Blog/?e=67705...hmann%2E%2E%2E

    Droid-Life is my source: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/28...work-out-bugs/
    I left NEXTEL because:
    1) Gary Forsee for single-handedly killing the mighty NEXTEL
    2) Paul Saleh for coughing up the money for Gary's BIG ideas of grandeur from the NEXTEL cash cow
    3) Timmy Donahue for taking his golden parachute and leaving post-merger when we needed him most
    4) Barry West for regressing iDEN backwards 10 years by killing 6:1 and WiDEN development
    5) Dan Hesse for practicing apathy over sympathy, then prolonging the pain

I am really hoping Moto isn't this bad internally.

Regardless of whether it is or not Sanjay could take some pointers from whoever this exec is at RIM.

    Primarily.

Focus on the end users rather than requests from carriers.

Scale back new product programs and focus on fewer, but far better final products.

Release fully finished top notch products only(particularly from a software standpoint).

My own personal point would be that since they are vetted to Android they should also forgo Blur when Ice Cream hits to simplify and accelerate deployment of new Android builds. If you want to better utilize the software team freed up by this have them create unique Android Moto only apps/widgets that run ON a STOCK android build and are deployed in a totally separate push from new Android builds.

And then there is this. There are reasons I am being extremely critical in the Targa/Bionic thread.

Yes, it does. Unless VZW is really out to launch it in a hurry. With all the negatives GB has brought to DX users, I don't see that happening, no matter how desperate VZW is to sell another phone.

This whole situation is ridiculous. Current android phones should not be launching with anything less than GB. Android is a mess. Too many chiefs....
