Whats wrong with LTE in Tallahassee, FL?

Since i know we have some people that can find stuff out here I wanna ask..

LTE network launched here in Tallahassee about a month ago and it SUCKS.

Its slow.. the most I have seen is 3.5 down..

I use the Incredible so it doesnt matter much to me personally but next year if i upgrade to a LTE device I would be pissed.

Anyone here can you verify the slow speeds?

And what would cause this... only 1 channel of 10 mhz instead of 10+10 being deployed here?

    Limited backhaul?

Just out of curiosity, how do you know it sucks in the whole area if you don't have a LTE device?

There are places in my area where i'll only get a consistent 2-5 mbps down - on the flip side, I also frequent places in my area where I get a consistent 20+ mbps down.

Just go by your verizon store and test it. It could be his SIM card or the server he was using.

That's the same as a person gets in most of the STL market, and--from what I've heard--a lot of NC that was lit up yesterday. Several other users have reported speeds like that in their markets, but I can't seem to remember which ones those are.

I think that's actually fairly normal for places outside major metros and city centers. Even so, 3.5 Mbps is a great speed for a cellphone. That's just a little slower than I typically get on my AT&T iPhone 4, and I've never found myself wanting something faster on my phone. 3.5Mbps provides a much, much, much better experience (really, it's like night and day) than the typically slow VZW 3G speeds, so I bet you'll be quite pleased when you do upgrade to a LTE phone.

    Verizon's 4G network.

I live in California, not New York. I actually dislike New York.

Take a look at the 4G coverage map. All the stores in Tallahassee are very close to 4G Extended Coverage Areas so I would expect low speeds in doors. Coverage looks a bit spotty and it's obvious that they still don't have 4G on all the cell sites.

Well I would hardly call Troy, Alabama a "major city" or *Metro Center*, population 18,000. I get 30-40Mbit/s in South Alabama in some fairly rural area's.

Of course, your dead wrong to call Verizon's "typical' speeds to be slow. They are extremely fast in areas where AT&T only has EDGE

Especially in an area AT&T's 4G is slower than Verizon 3G which is very typical down here..

And I fail to see how this is slower than AT&T's pathetic HSPA+ network here.

Well, 3.5Mbps is not much.. remember all of these peak speeds you see with LTE are shared between all of the devices on that cell

How many tests in how many locations? Can't just base it off of one location. Signal could have been very poor?

Remember the bars displayed on the signal meter on the T-Bolt are not the bars of 4G signal...

Nuclear, u live in Tallahassee? or u are visiting and stopped into a store to do a test?

Or are u saying u tested it in your local store which would be irrelevant to this topic...?
