It now officially has a release date on AT&T - October 2nd. It will start out at $199.99 with a two-year contract.
I'm interested to see how the phone sells.

Bleh. I want them to announce the i927. We haven't had a high-end Android phone with a keyboard on AT&T. EVER. It's the only carrier that hasn't had one, and Verizon's had THREE. C'mon AT&T get it out already!

You mean Nexus Prime? The Nexus series phones never have keyboards. I'd rather have an original SGS with a 'board than a Nexus Prime or SGSII. Luckily, with i927, I won't have to make that choice. But seriously, AT&T, it's been long enough without a keyboarded phone!!!

That's sad. We should be going towards ~70 buttons being standard, not this touchscreen-only crap. I'm sick of how hard it is to text without a real keyboard.
@uncreative, that doesn't really make too much sense as getting the product out first would be best, to get people into the contracts with the SGSII before Apple comes out with their device. I can sort of see riding on the media hype as the "iPhone killer" (which, sorry folks, was the original DROID, everything after has just been better) though.

Unfortunately for those of us that like keyboards on our smartphones, that is becoming the way of the dodo. It just isn't what is "in" right now, and there are firms predicting in 3-4 years less than 5% of smartphones sold will have keyboards (trying to find the story)

Yes, the slates may be "in", but I find it hard to believe that few will have 'boards. There are guys like me with fat fingers, women with long nails, etc etc, but look at RIM, the DROID series, and all the cheapo sliders for texting. There are tons of little keyboards being sold. I hope each carrier keeps a high-end device with a 'board moving forward.
