10 MHz of 700 is deployed here in the east end of Toronto/beaches area. A few indoor tests here, speeds are definitely better with that full block of spectrum. I also included some Telus tests in the same spots, although the Bellus signal is pretty bad here.

Also I band locked to remove B12 to see what would happen, and I'm seeing that Rogers is still running 5 mhz of band 17. Curious as to how they are doing this, didn't think they had 15 mhz of 700
EARFCN of the (I guess it's refarmed?) B12 is 5060 and B17 is the same 5765 as before

Are you sure Rogers still has B17 still active with B12 now being 10MHz.

@crab9000, that sounds weird. Unless they're refarming sites on different days, or they missed a few sites, there's no reason to have 5060 and 5765 at the same time. Where did you see 5765?

Looks like it must have been a brief quirk of the refarm, tried again today and there is no more Rogers B17 here. I'm not really sure how they managed that, even for that period, the B17 had a different cell id, one number off of the B12 I was using, looking like it came from the same site, and there were lots of neighbouring cells for both B12 and B17.

    That sounds right.

More testing because I’m bored On main floor inside my house. Fluctuating between LTE and 3G more often lately. Rogers says there’s nothing wrong with the network in the area and they don’t have any updates on a new site build...in fact they said there’s no record of one despite being told several months ago that one was in planning. You tell me whether or not there’s anything wrong with the network (test taken on iPhone 8 Plus with latest iOS). Check out those amazing ping and jitter levels.

Rogers HSPA is useless. Anyone my phone drops to 3G the only thing I can do is make calls and send/receive text. Loading websites or using apps that use data take FOREVER or time out. LTE however isn't as bad... it's not the fastest, but it's acceptable.

I feel the same way. I've been using a Xiaomi Mi Max (original) and it only has HSPA+ and LTE band 7. It was fine on Rogers in 2017, I could regularly get 40+ Mbps dl. Now I'm glad to get 3 on 3G.

Did Rogers change something, refarm 3G spectrum to LTE? Are their 3G bands just saturated with users? Sometimes I get a 4 bar signal but no network or completely unusable speeds.

I guess I'll need a new phone with all the LTE bands. Too bad I really like this BIG phone and they don't make a big phone with NA LTE bands. RIP Sony Xperia Z Ultra, ruined me for all others.

DC-HSPA+ was disabled some time ago, and often there is only 1 B5 and 1 B2 carrier deployed in most regions only...this is not enough for more than calls, especially during peak hours.

Chatr uses those two bands for its WCDMA, UMTS, HSPA+ service.

This makes sense. I’ve noticed 3G speeds are much slower than what they used to be. I wonder if Bell and Telus have shut down their dual cell network as well?

Yes they have. My b2 was reframed from 15 to 20MHz just recently and I noticed my HSPA speeds go from 20 to 10mbps..

Brutal. So all 3G networks now in Canada are back to 21 Mbps max?
