Need testers to kick Rogers Cell Tower Map

    Hi again,

Some users have written to me to say that the Loxcel cell tower map at

    http://loxcel.com/celltower

is the easiest map they've ever used.

Well, it's just gotten a whole lot more useful thanks to its new "place name picker."

Before, you had to pan and zoom your way to your destination.

Now, just type away, and the map instantly jumps to your desired destination.

Whether it's "Kentville Nova Scotia" "Winnipeg, MB" or "West Point Grey, Vancouver, BC, Canada" -- just type and click. Done.

Every place you can imagine (and then some) awaits.

    Sales pitch over.

Hey, I'm hoping some of you will spend some time to shake it about and let me know if you find any glitches. I've tested it on Firefox, Safari, IE and iPhone and so far it seems "really tight". (I know I'll eat those two words, soon enough.)

The map has some extra smarts on your smartphone. I need some Android users to test it out.

Thanks in advance for your comments / criticisms, etc. Contact me at loxcel.ws @ gmail.com

ps. the loxcel.com cell tower map, and the NEW radio transmitter map, which features 426,000 antennas across Canada, was featured in last Thursday's Le Devoir cover story. It seems that some people are concerned about cell tower *safety*.

    Thanks

Wow that is awesome.. I've visually seen the towers around my place but didn't know what company was on them.. I know see why I have signal issues out in the county as there are NO towers out there!

So far ok in Firefox 10, IE 8 and Chrome and Safari on my iPhone

Great work on this project. I use it for my travels and whenever I am moving to a new area and trying to decide on a wireless carrier.

I'll just pimp my map as an alternative, linked in signature.

Very cool stuff. Is there any way to determine which tower your phone is currently talking to -- iPhone in particular -- other than whatever's closest?

This information isn't currently available to a web browser. Maybe some day.

    Appreciate that. Thanks.

Do you have anything you'd like to see added / changed ? I get a lot of suggestions. Some are simple and I take care of them right away. Some are hard and are put on the back burner for another day.

Your map is great, I use it very often. It loads quite fast and is simple and uncluttered. I'm not sure if it's possible, but if you could differentiate which sites use which technology, that would be very helpful (i.e GSM+HSPA, GSM+HSPA+LTE, HSPA+LTE, etc.).

    Keep up the great work!

That would be an interesting feature if the information was available.

I'll love to add that feature for you.

But to do that, do you know how to use the signal bandwidth or other signal properties to discern among GSM+HSPA, GSM+HSPA+LTE, HSPA+LTE, etc ?
