Many of the carriers are now also requiring that the phone you want to unlock be active on your account for 30 days. If that's the case with Verizon then nobody can just ask for the unlock code for you.

Someone please help to get an unlocking code for my motorola xt610. I bought it from eBay and can't use it abroad, because it is SIM-locked. Unlocking seriveces' codes doesn't work. The code has been changed by Verizon. I am not a Verizon customer. So can't ask them for the code. Someone is needed to be a customer for at least 90 days. Thanks in advance.

The phone has been activated in the US for more than 30 days.

Here you can see that 0mie helped aZzz to get the code for Droid Pro just asking MEID.
Typically, at least in my experience, this doesn't work. The phone has to be activated on the account of the person calling in order to get the unlock code. This is because Verizon requires the account holder of the phone to be a customer in good standing for a certain amount of time in addition to only allow one unlock per account every 8-12 months (I can't remember exactly which one it is). 0mie either got really lucky with the reps he talked to, or he knows someone. I've tried calling to unlock phones for friends before, and they won't do it unless it's a phone activated on my account.
