Could this just be an electrical problem with my car?

    Hello,
I just bought a 2000 Toyota Corolla and a week after I started driving it, the seat belt light came on even though my seat belt was on. So I thought well I know I'm wearing my belt, so I can just ignore the light. As soon as that light stopped going, the check engine light came on. I'm just wondering if maybe there's a chance that it's just electrical. I'm still going to get it checked out just in case.
    Thanks

I think you might have to get the whole seatbelt harness replaced, as in those cars, it has known to have been a problem with the seat belt relay somewhere in the belt. You're check engine light could be a seperate issue. I would get it diagnosed. By using a ECU tool, you can see what alert set off the check engine sensor, as well as turn it off.
