    Samsung smartphones... voice quality?

Been buying Motorola phones and smartphones for many years due to their excellence in voice quality and reception.

I still use my smartphone as my primary voice phone as I have all my home and business lines forwarded to my Droid X2.

With Verizon CDMA, the Motorola voice quality and reception have been excellent.

Have never used a Samsung smartphone.

Looking at the Galaxy III and would like to hear from Samsung aficionados as to the voice quality of their phones.

This is a popular subject. I have heard and read that Samsung radios have bad reception. I found a post in another forum about it – saying that VZW is using the Qualcomm chipset/radio combination. They have never done this and it is supposed to be a winning combination. It has been said that the S3 shares more with HTC radio’s than any previous Samsung phone. So, twofold benefits – better reception and less battery drain (VZW LTE is a battery hog).

Of course, we’ll have to wait for the phone to be in our hand and at our ear to know for sure, but it is good news relative to all of the negative press in the past.

I have heard this too, but I never got down to proving it myself. In fact, I'm planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Anyone else who got the same plans?

    Ditto...

I am Moto man at heart, but the new share it all deal didn't leave much to chose from. I have pre-ordered the SGSIII. I did it only to prevent loss of my last subsidy and NE2. I may later decide to sell it, idk.

Jasaero, whose hardware tech knowledge far exceeds my own, has explained the S3 is using different chip ensembles for this phone which means that there's good reason to hope that the long-standing Samsung issues with call quality may not affect the SGSIII. The S3 will have, in some ways, more in common chip-wise with recent HTC offerings than with past Galaxy models. That's not, however, a guarantee.

My S3 will stay in it's box at least until the vzw model i535 is through it's shakedown period and there is a reliable return-to-stock from root. Unless I brick the DX...
