LTE in Philadelphia - Is it live?

I am hearing from some people that LTE is starting to appear in the Philadelphia market. Has anyone been able to confirm this? If so, please comment on what area you are in. It would be great if the official launch is the entire market (Philadelphia and suburbs) and not just Center City.

I've seen it in Delco at both the Granite Run (Media) and Springfield Mall's. Nothing official yet though and I believe full launch is still a ways away.

Thanks for the link. I was looking for what people are seeing on their phones. It has not been announced.

    Thanks. That's a good sign.

It is improbable that someone would purchase an LTE telephone to use in a market without LTE service. First the service and then the telephone sales.

Improbable means less than fifty per cent probablity. Are you saying that half of the people who buy phones in the Philadelphia market are purchasing LTE capable models?

It was you who suggested that I use a different word. If what you write is correct, 40% is less than half.

Any updates on Philly. I am trying to quickly decide what network to order my iPhone on. I am thinking I want to get a Lumia as well in a month or so, which is pushing me towards AT&T, but I am not sure I can give up Verizon's LTE network to do it.

I see AT&T's network in the DC, Baltimore area and I that is the plan in Philadelphia as it regards to suburbs build out, I will be very pleased. Also, anyone know of AT&T plans to cover the shore, or will the just push of HSPA as 4G there.

    Thanks for the input.

It also seems that a majority of AT&T towers have LTE panels installed as well. Can't confirm if they are all active, but I'd bet reasonably soon that AT&T LTE coverage will be denser than Verizon. I still tend to go 3G way too often considering 3G is PCS and LTE is 700.

Do you have a URL or cite for that? I stopped by AT&T store location on 202 in Wilmington yesterday and no LTE. I will try swinging by there again today in an attempt to verify.

I never liked that one (the old Krispy Kreme right?). I liked the old Cingular Store in the Concord Square shopping center better. They closed that one and the old at&t one and moved into the old doughnut place, but I just never found the employees at the merged store to be as helpful.

Ironically I was at a store in that Concord Square last Friday, and had 1X only on Verizon inside

So the 202 store was no LTE, but I went down to the kirkwood highway store and the phones were getting 14 down and 12 up. I'm not sure where the coverage begins and ends though.

Anybody on the board with an AT&T droid device that supports LTE in the area and can try to pinpoint the coverage?

I'm pretty sure most smartphones AT&T sells now are LTE capable. The big one being the iPhone 5 that is shipping soon.
