    FaceTime over cellular....

    Does anyone know if Rogers is going to support this? Will it be free, use up your data, for a fee, etc?

    Facetime is an app that uses data in order for you to make video calls.
    Yes you can use it on Rogers.
    Yes it uses up your data allotment

    I think the question is regarding AT&T in the States requiring you to have a special plan for Facetime to work over data. The OP just wants to know if Rogers will have similar requirements or if it will just work?

    I think that's been adequately addressed here. Rogers will not require any sort of special plan for facetime over cellular.

    I would assume that with LTE, the quality would be as good or better than wifi.

    My New Rogers Plan
    - $35 Unlimited Local Calling Plan
    - $30 6GB Data
    - $10 Retention Value Pack - Free (2500 texts, CID, VM)
    - 100 mins LD - Free
    - $67 + tax

    Bite me Telus.

    Facetime over 3G (HSPA+)

    From what I've tested, depending on your location and I tested it on a 4 - 9Mbps area.

    Mid res only.
    1min = 3.5 MB
    60min = 210 MB

    Imagine HD res like Wifi?
    1min = 7MB
    60min = 420 MB

    It's gonna be a huge money maker for the Big 3 and they know it. You wouldn't likely have to pay additional fees because they'll already be raking in loads of cash from people who don't understand how much bandwidth Facetime uses. If you use Facetime a lot, make sure you're on WIFI.
