I moved to Newmarket in February and noticed right away that my Note 4 was only getting 1 or 2 bars.
Telus admitted that there is a coverage gap in my area and gave me $15/month credit for two months.

I'm going to call again if the signal doesn't improve soon. Does anyone else have the issue in Newmarket area? I'm just north of Yonge and Davis.
I'm on Bell at Bathurst & Davis. Full LTE+ in my home, all areas.

Just west of the home depot.

I guess I'm just in that gap area... My wife is with Bell and her S7 edge isn't getting full signal either. 2 or 3 at best.

You might be connecting to the site on top of the water tower at Yonge / London.

The antennas are not very high, so that's probably the cause of poor reception.

So I'm too close to the tower to get good connection? Interestingly, I actually get better connection when I go out to Yonge and London.

You're too far from the tower. Unfortunately it's colocated with Rogers, so your location is bad for all providers.

I'm within 1km of the water tower. I can't believe that the range is that short... Is it?

Like I said, it's because the antennas are not very high. Antenna height and obstructions are main factors for signal strength.

If they were placed higher, the cell radius would've increased as a result, and you would've had a much better signal as well.

As an extreme example, consider a situation where antennas were placed at ground level. Cell radius would be extremely small in that case.

We're in the same sub-division it seems. Probably just a gap in coverage. I'm closer to Bathurst & Davis.

Just checked my wife's GS7e on Bell and she gets 3-4bars inside our house. I only get 1-2 bars on my old Note 4 and S5.

Interesting. Is it possible your phone and your wife's phone are connected to different bands?

Dial *#0011# to check the band number.

Finally got around to checking both phones at the same time in the same room - 2nd floor master bedroom facing west.
Both were connected band 2 BW 20MHz, yet my S5 had 1 bar and her S7e was going between 3 and 2.

Looks like I will keep using the backup S5 until my device balance is gone. Just in time for Note 8 announcement, I think.
Maybe OnePlus 5 will be revealed sometime around then so I can have more choices.

Thanks for the update. I guess the S7e has a much better receiver than the S5.
What's the RSRP value on each phone?
