I just got a message from Virgin Mobile that updated Terms & Conditions will take effect early next year. Among the changes listed at http://www.virginmobileusa.com/Virgi...-System-Update is that a $15 auto-Top-Up will only provide 45 days of payLo service, and it will be necessary to auto-Top-Up $20 for 90 days of service. This, of course, is a 33% price increase for low usage customers.

PREPAID means I have all the power.
They want me, but they can't have me...![]()
Dislike this news, but appreciate the share.
I have 4 family members on accounts like that. I'm just glad that the $20 for 90 days option is being offered.
They gave you a $5 discount for auto paying. So, no discount for auto pay effectively. I might as well buy top up cards at a discount then and manually add them. Set up the calendar and top up when needed. Have to look and see if I can even buy a $20 top up card.
This might be a stupid question, I have one of these plans, they auto charge my card $15 every 90 days. Do I need to change anything to keep it every 90days?
i.e. if I do nothing will I be charged $15 every 45, or $20 every 90?
Thanks

Yes. You will need to change the autopay amount to $20 or the $15 amount you preset will be charged at 45-day intervals.
I haven't figured out (or seen it posted here) yet whether changing the autopay amount triggers an immediate $20 payment, so I recommend not doing this until you are close to your payment deadline, to avoid paying twice in a short time.
Wondering if current accounts might get grandfathered?
I have two of those $15/90 days accounts, gonna wait
and see what happens.![]()
A slight bummer, but a HUGE plus is that you can use your cash balance to buy a phone. I don't mind an extra $5 every 90 days. I've already used my cash balance to buy two Sliders and an Entro.
Castrol EDGE 0W-20 is my drug of choice.

Well, my payment became due yesterday, and in spite of the fact that I received messages telling me that I needed to Top-Up after the auto-Top-Up had been completed, the $15.00 Top-Up did extend my service for 90 days. However, besides adding $0.90 of 6% sales tax to my payment as in the past, they also found a way to get more money from me by adding a $0.29 E911 Fee, which has not been charged in the past.
So it appears to be grandfathered, other than the extra 29 cents? That's better than an extra $5. Mine's due in March, will wait and see what happens. I was going to switch to TU cards if it changed to $20.
I got a message today that they cannot add money to my account. I went to the website and noticed that auto pay feature is gone. I had to manually add $20 and the next payment date moved to 3 months. I don't know if you can add $15 instead but I didn't see any documentation on the site point either direction.
