Question Switching Phones and how the plan is handled

    Hello,

I am starting to get confusing info from VM. I am on the $40 month plan and I am 2 weeks into it and more than 2 weeks worth of minutes.

If I switch the phone today, will I lose half a month? Or do I have to keep this Elite and not use it for 2 weeks?

If you're entering the esn online it should tell you if your phone is not compatible with your current plan. There might be an issue with the website at the moment.

Thanks I got a email saying it has been swamped. But cant make calls use activation on phone and get error to call. I then go into ##VIRGIN# and change the numbers from stuff I have not seen to my cell and another number like in my other one. This fixed it.

Now only if I can get the ID pack downloaded cant do that via wifi and it times out

Mobile ID has to download over 3g. At least it did for me on the elite and the rise.

This time it got to 89% and timed out lol. And wifi was connect this time. It should verify over 3g, then download over wifi. Just gonna eat away at the battery till or if it ever downloads.

Re: Switching Phones and how the plan is handled

Hi, was this activation for the old grandfather plan? Also was it possibly to enter the esn to check it was compatible with my plan.

I asking because I'm interested in switching phone optimus v to elite but want to keep my 25 dollar plan.

Sent from my VM670 using HowardForums

The activation went wonky, I even had to change the MDN and the other one to what my old phone said.

I had the Optimus V with the $40 grandfathered plan and now I have the Optimus Elite with the $40 grandfathered plan. It says it works all over this forum.

The only difference you may have it will show you plans to change and you have to click something about I do not see the plan I want to see the $25 plan. It will not show you the $40 or $60 plan. (not like any sane person would want the $60 plan lol) and if there you are good to go. I never got this.

Activation said to call. I waited a long time doing something else, got a email saying my phone swamped and then than a funcky error that the MDN thing up there fixed.

I just did both, one swap from OV to elite and retained $25 plan, and one Slider to Rise $40 to $45 plan. If you enter the ESN online under the phone swap option, if the phone isn't able to be on your current plan it will tell you before you have to accept.

Entering the msid and Mdn is normal if your swapping online and entering the activation info manually (using ##virgin#). Personally I never use the activate app when swapping. All you need to do is enter the msid and mdn the website gives you (same as the old phone) after you accept the swap.
