POLL: Keeping the $25 Grandfather plan with Optimus Elite (Recent transaction)

Hi, I'm on the Virgin Mobile's Grandfathered $25 plan and I currenlty have an Optimus V. I have been thinking about switching phones but would really prefer to keep my current plan. I contacted VM and they told me that I can only keep the $25 if I switch only to phones such as: Optimus Slider, Motorola Triumph, Venture and the OG Optimus V.

I have read on these forums that people had luck switching to Optimus Elite and keeping the old plan.

If possible, I would like to take a poll and see if any users had any luck recently. TIA

    Please list:

    Date upgraded:
    Phone (from and to)
Plan (from and to), hopefully keeping the same plan
Process (self online or call VM customer service)
Any other helping info for members

If it works, it works with any method of activation. There won't be any special hoop-jumping required to make it work.

The longer you wait, the harder it will be to find new units of the phones eligible for the $25 plan.

Personally, I gave up my $25 plan because I got tired of coping with the shortcomings of the eligible phones.

On 12/25 I switched my son's HTC Wildfire to an Optimus Elite and was able to keep the $25 grandfathered plan. I did it online with no problems. Having recently switched my daughter's phone to an iphone and having to give up the $25 plan, it is made obvious if you have to switch plans when making the phone swap online.

Also, you can used the ESN off the unopened box to verify. If it doesn't work (but it will) you can return it.
