Best service provider for a Canadian trucker............

    Help !!!
I am a truck driver, based in Saskatoon Canada, working for 8 or 9 months of the year in the lower 48 states, at the moment I use a simple pay as you go contract with Rogers as my service provider.......the costs are horrendous, but, used carefully with text messages and quick calls home we manage.
Now I am self employed as an Owner Operator, and will have to keep in touch with customers all over the USA and Canada, and at a dollar a minute, I simply cannot afford to carry on this way, so, can anybody help please,?
The difficulty seems to be that as I am not a US resident or do not have a SIN number or residential address I cannot get a contract with providers....... any advice gratefully received, Ste.

My friend's dad is a Canadian trucker driving long haul routes to the States and he uses Verizon. Not sure if he's on prepaid or postpaid, but definitely something you can check out.

Apparently it's possible to have a Canadian billing address and use Verizon service.

Best service provider for a Canadian trucker............

Maybe something like Straight Talk or Net 10 would work for you?

Or even Page Plus? The OP didn't mention how much, minute wise, he uses the phone in the USA. Page Plus has very basic service for $80 per year, and that gives you roughly 2,000 minutes.

I'm sure the OP travels back to Canada each month, so ST and such is out of the question. OP, Verizon offers a Canada and add on for $15.00 which will give you calling and texting to Canada to the US and have no roaming charges in Canada. Data you would need to get an international data plan.

Or he can use a Canadian cell phone in Canada and a USA phone like Straight Talk in the USA.

Net10 offers a $65 per month "unlimited talk, text, and web with international dialing." their service runs on various USA cellular networks. I'd recommend getting one of their phones that ride on the Verizon or AT&T network; they can be had at major retailers in the USA (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, ect..) This seems like a valid option for a smartphone while your in the USA that has the ability to dial Canadian numbers.

At&t has a plan that allows for use in canada and the USA. It could be a good deal.

What are your usage patterns? Sounds like calls and texts to Canada and the USA. Do you need/want data? Do you want/need a smartphone? How many minutes/texts?

Presumably you want broad coverage. How much would you be willing to spend? Anything else we should know?

Google voice won't ring a Canadian number. Line2/Toktumi would though.
