You dont need 3G and you will NOT get it beause of 3 simple reasons...

    1) they are not stupid

    2) They want to sell you minutes not unlimited skype

    3) again they are not stupid.
2g with no port blocking would be acceptable. I'd rather have tiered usage 3G for speed though. Time will tell what they plan to offer.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that analysis. As examples, Virgin and Fido offer 3G data packages on prepaid. The goal of the provider, besides attracting new customers, is to increase the monthly spend of customers, and thus increase its revenue. Virgin offers 1 GB of 3G data for $35. While you could use Skype or VOIP for all your calls through it, the bottom line is they are still forcing you to spend $35 per month. In comparison, $30 per month buys you unlimited talk and data on Wind and $35 per month buys you unlimited evenings/weekends, unlimited text and 100 daytime minutes on Fido, all available on prepaid.

It's unclear exactly what the data plans will be, but it's not so far fetched for them to offer full 3G data access given that other prepaid providers are already offering it. Just don't expect to get much for $10 now.

Just checked out Speakout's website and it looks like the data plans have been delayed indefinitely, so UMB looks to be continuing until further notice.

The good news is that Browse Feature will continue in its current format until Data service begins later this year.

We apologize to the users who have been patiently waiting for Data Services.

Once we have confirmed the Data launch dates, we will update the website.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve SpeakOut Wireless’ program.

Too bad I was looking for some kind of 3g data plan in the $15 to 20 range.

The delay is a bit of a drag as I was going to use the new offering to get lower Rogers rates.

I'm seriously questioning the delays in their data plan rollout. Perhaps they can't charge the price they want to charge? We all know that the Big Three rule and would want 7-11 messing things up? Afterall, they have this 365 day expiry that the other guys can't match. Something fishy going on imo.

June 22.. data speeds one tenth of what they were. Samsung S3
Looks to me they are testing throttling to about 250 kb/s
at the price this is acceptable, but not nearly as much fun as what we had.
