Dropped calls have been a regular problem with RW since wave A beta. I've been with them since wave E. They are cheap for a lot of services but the dropped calls have been a bit of an issue on a regular basis. At least he can't go over with RW

I am sorry for all the questions.
I am trying to see if RW would work for me.
I am on the RW mailing list and I keep getting emails about them working on dropped call issues and/or about them shutting down for a few hours to work on their system.
They seem to be coming fairly regularly. Is this really an issue?
I am a heavy phone user. Most of that phone use is within wifi range, but I do rely on my phone for good service.
I am also looking at RW for my teen son. Will he be able to get a hold of me when his activities/events are over and he needs a ride home?
Sorry for all the questions. I just need to be fully informed before diving in. I do need reliable service.
Thank you!,
Dawn

Dawn - if you really depend on your phone, I would avoid RW. They were not reliable when I used them, and they have little to no customer support.
Thank you. That is a big help. I think, at least for me, this is probably not the best plan. It might be a good teen plan.
If there are having an issue with the wifi you can just turn wifi off during those times and use cellular. The good thing with Rw is they roam on verizon when out of sprint range. The moto x will be nice when they get it and with all of the different plans. It is a good option for a back up phone.

They drop on cellular sometimes as well. Having a several calls in a row drop and then having to call them back on cellular is a pain and embarrassing. If your phone is connected to your home wifi it will always try to use their wifi connection as well
As a US citizen I have the right to criticize my government. My thanks for this is endless in magnitude.
Fascism is here led by a hypersensitive psychopathic dictator having complete power, obsessively suppressing criticism, regimenting industry & commerce. Emboldening racism & aggressive nationalism.

I decided to go with ATT GoPhone for now.
I may still get a RW phone in November for my teenager. Right now he has a flip phone! But getting him a RW phone and the $10 plan (he is in wifi most of the time anyway) might be perfect.

that plan is good for kids
I can see RW being appealing for parents, but not so much teens. It's been awhile since I've been a teen, but I'd be more interested in the device, less so the service (especially not talk minutes which can be handled by voip). I'd want an Nexus 7 or iPad (preferably with LTE). My preteen kinfolk have iPods running GV and Talkatone.
