Correct. I think 2100 is just band 1. According to https://support.apple.com/kb/SP655?locale=en_US, all iPhone 5's support just 2100.

Since the "free" roaming by TM gives you very solid EDGE speeds - even if Apple doesn't have the 2100 band found on most phones - they do have the old standard 900 and 1800 bands used around the world (major exceptions U.S. and Canada). She will have no problem in Ukraine.
GoogleVoice (domestic call forwarding and cheap intl. calls) Use GV to give us a "home" number in a 2nd location
8 T-Mobile lines - Unlimited talk and text, data. TM One plan. Get $10/mo. rebate on 7 lines for low data use. Net cost about $185-190/mo. We haven't had a landline in more than 17 years.

In Jamaica two networks available here, Digicel, and Lime. Was only able to connect to Hspa+ on Digicel.

    'Unlimited' International Data Speedtest!

Just to update the list for Belgium, on Proximus you can get LTE signal. I was surprised when I landed in Brussels that my phone was on LTE moments after being connected. Due to the signals from operators in Belgium being weak you sometimes lose signal in buildings or fall back onto an operator with a closer mast. The only other operator I have connected to was Mobistar, I was only able to receive 3G.

What diff. does it make whether we connect by LTE, 4G, 3G, or even EDGE? The speeds we get are 110-112Kbps when roaming. IF it's solid, which it almost always seems to be, we can do everything from navigation w. Google maps, to email, to Facebook, and often do audio streaming.

LTE and 4G/3G should allow for quicker responses compared to 2G.

Im currently in the Netherlands, my phone and iPad only connect to T-Mobile and Vodafone. 3G only on T-Mobile and my iPad can get a weak LTE signal. Vodafone is running 10mhz band 20(800).

Bell/Rogers were on LTE in T.O., Telus gave me HSPA+. All were around 100kbps. Good enough for most things. Terminal 3 wasn't very good for service. MMS was useless on all 3.
    AT&T... your world, throttled.

Manually select another network then toggle airplane mode. this often forces another network to register. T-Mobile seems to be forcing connections to a single carrier in many locations but they still have roaming agreement in place with other carriers in many locations.

Oh cool. Thanks! I'm in Romania now and at my hotel, I connected to Telekom RO 2G. When I go to the city center, I roam on Vodafone 3G. Seems like it's picking up the best signal and/or standard available. In Germany DT was the best for me. In Romania, Vodafone is GPRS at my hotel but T-Mobile is EDGE, but like I said I switch back to Vodafone 3G in the city.

Using a Note 4 in Turks & Caicos now having a issue connecting to data, I'm able to call and text no problem. If I place the phone in airplane mode then disable it I get data hspa, but shortly after it disappears again. Called tmobile they said they'll have there engineers look at it. Same thing happens when I place my sim in my Note 3.

Tried the #766# which didn't work. Mobile data, and roaming is checked. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

There are 3 networks available, Digicel, Lime, Islandcom TCI. Only one I can connect to is Digicel.

    ***Edit***

It seems data has to be set to gsm only. If your phone is set to automatic like most phones are data disconnects after a seconds, but calls and texts work. I noticed if I set it to edge only the data connection would finally stay connected. So instead of bothering with all this I went to Digicel and picked up a 1 gig sim card with 4g lte. Now I just tether my tmobile phone off of it, for wifi calling, and GPS. For some reason wifi calling isn't working of the hotel's wifi.
