Information to port out of StraightTalk?

    Hi,

This morning I placed a port with T-Mobile to get my phone number out of StraightTalk.

I gave the last 15 digits of the SIM card number and the last 4 digits of the phone number as the PIN.

Did I give the correct information?

The guy at the T-mobile store (who did not know what info to give) said after we gave that info that the port will go through just fine. But a quick Google search shows quite a few horror stories of people not being able to get their number ported away from StraightTalk.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Phil

Most of the number Porting horror stories are from a few years ago. It should be fine.

    Thank you VisionsDivine.

Anyone, would it be a good idea to call StraightTalk to see if they have received the porting request from T-Mobile? Or wait a day and see what happens?

    Thanks,

    Phil

There was a recent thread with what StraightTalk required.
    .
    Had other good advice like:
    - call ST and ask (told me last 15, and no pass) *
    - port out at least three days before your service expires
    - port on Monday through Thursday, never on the weekend
    - port early in the morning; most likely to go through quickly.
    .
I did mine last month in the afternoon, and it went through overnight; 18 hrs or less.
    .
    * edit: h2o wouldn't take that info 'till I insisted.

I ported my mom over to Simple Mobile (another Tracfone company) at about 5pm in the evening last month from Page Plus. The Porting process wasn't done until the next morning.

I'm thinking of porting from ST to Google Voice, then to Aio. I keep reading that some people say that your phone number is your account number but others say it is your SIM card number. I originally bought a ST branded phone when I set up my account and then switched to a bring your own phone. So I'm assuming my SIM card number is the account number then?

Your Straight Talk account number is the last 15 digits on the sim card.

Your pin number is the 5 digit pin you entered when you set up your account.
You can find your pin number in your online account profile.

I don't think StraightTalk requires a PIN, or even has a PIN. Two calls to ST seemed to confirm this.

I have heard from others there is not PIN, or that the last 4 digits of your phone number serve as your PIN.

My service with ST doesn't end for another 8 days. I hope it gets done by then. I just keeping someone, somewhere is going to make a mistake...Either ST or T-Mobile.

    Quick update:

The porting process has begun. My wife's old ST phone stopped working, and when I send a text to her ported number it now shows up on T-Mobile. I started the process Sunday morning, and on Monday her number seems to already been ported BUT...

when she texts me back it shows me her temporary T-Mobile number that was given to her Saturday. So basically she has two numbers right now!?! Crazy!

Anyone know when the temporary number drops off and her ported number becomes her only number? Do I need to call T-Mobile?

It should be noted that the PIN StraighTalk was given was the last 4 digits of the phone number.

    @plarsen111: thanks for the update.
When i initially read #9 I was going to quickly reply that either the port process wasn't finished yet or that you simply had to restart the phone :P
After 3 years w ST, I too might be porting out due to my financial reason and not really taking advantage of the unlimited talk/text/data*. But I hope to come back when things change.
Isn't that the beauty of prepaid
