Selectel , Page Plus, Dealer shutting down Dec. 31

A Selectel Page plus Dealer announced it is shuting down on Dec 31.

I can't mention the name but its sad to see you go, I hope the others are able to stay in Business.

They had just redone their web site and it was better then Selectels

With Selectels mediocre web site dealers can be very helpful.

Selectels service is great but their web site leaves alot to be desired..

I got an email from them, and I'm very sorry to see them go. I became a customer only within the last 6 months or so, and they treated me great! I wish them all the best.

Got the email from the dealer himself. There's nothing on their website yet, but I'm guessing it will show up soon. I'm sorry to see them go.

They are the best. I turned to them for advice about everything phone-related, and they never steered me wrong. Will miss them!

I would venture to say that the dealer system is going to go the way of the Dinosaur. I think when PPC significantly reduced and or eliminated the spiffs they brought upon the demise of the dealer. Why that little furry one is rushing to move to their own MVNO as they see their dealer business coming to an end, at least that is how it appears to me.

Yep, that's the way it appears to me also. That's why I was hoping Selectel would have made bigger inroads into the market by now. I was hoping they might be the "new" Page Plus. But, apparently, they never did pay the kind of spiffs Page Plus used to pay their dealers.

Emergency Announcement from Very Smart Wireless for Page Plus customers

If you are a Page Plus customer with Very Smart Wireless this is extremely important!

Page Plus Cellular has shut down our dealership with them as of today. We are not able to fill any orders as of now and going forward. We continue to be able to fill Selectel orders until the end of December.

Apparently somebody decided they did not like our shutdown announcement and they have decided to close us early.

We can only apologize for the inconvenience to you.

Our Page Plus AutoPays will be taken care of today but if you are an AutoPay customer on Page Plus YOU MUST replace your AutoPay or buy a monthly plan from somewhere else. We are forced to cancel all AutoPays after today.

Fn Slime. It's hitting the fan at P+. Slime you are a POS.

Edit: Wonder how Denny is doing? I imagine he's keeping a low profile (hiding), gone or knees hurting from getting in lock-step with Slime's take no prisoners tactics.

Small minded and vindictive. I'm glad I moved away from Page Plus when I did. Only one left in my imediate circles is my father-in-law and one brother (who just today called and asked about Selectel and BYO Wireless). But Slime doesn't care. Page Plus is redundant. His object was to eliminate a viable competitor.

No why would you say that?

This thread has nothing to do with Selectel, which is in very healthy financial shape.

Or maybe you are kidding about the wording of the title I guess....

I agree and I think it would have eventually happened to PP dealers regardless of America Movil's purchase. How can a brick and mortar dealer--or even one who works out of his/her garage--compete with the web for activations, ESN changes, customer service, etc.? As much as I appreciate the dealer I used years ago when I got my first PP account, I really don't need him. I buy my phones on eBay, PINs on Callingmart, and activate phones directly with the MVNO. I have done with this PP, Cricket, BYO, Lyca, Piranha and now Ultra. The last time I used a dealer was to flash an old Sprint phone to PP and that's not going to happen any more.
My smartphone is a lot smarter than I am.
