    Extended coverage

    Few questions:
    - has it started?
    - what are the rules?
    - who is the partner (not that it matters!)

If you understand French, I found this on another forum:

    " Chère cliente,
    Cher client,

For those too lazy to put that into Google Translate. The translation may be hit or miss, but here it is.

    "Dear customer,
    Dear Customer,

We are pleased to announce that as of May 13, 2015, Videotron customers will benefit from a Mobile coverage now more widespread and available across Canada. This improvement is made possible by new agreements with partners.

With a compatible mobile device and your current plan, you can enjoy all the benefits of this extended coverage when you travel across the country. To validate the compatibility of your device, please visit our Support section www.videotron.com.

This improvement leads us to add the following clause to our Mobile service contracts, which specifies the conditions of use of all of our partner networks.

Your voice usage (in minutes), text message (SMS), picture and video messages (MMS) or data (in KB) performed on the network (s) (x) affiliate Videotron can not exceed more than half of the sum of your total practice carried on Videotron's network and the network (s) (x) members, as recognized by Vidéotron billing systems, for a period representing two consecutive billing cycles. Where applicable, Videotron reserves the right, in its sole discretion to suspend or permanently block your access and all mobile devices from your account to so-called affiliate networks.

We are proud to offer you an even wider coverage and you confirm our commitment to give you the best experience ever Mobile.

For any information, modification or termination of your subscription, please contact our Customer Service at 1 888 433-6876.

True. I was summarizing that letter and responding point for point OPs question.

I would say for people that have heavily discounted priced plans either through promos or bundles to call Videotron. Especially Those plans that were offered between May 2013 and Jan 2014. These were provincial wide plans that had lots of data-6GB for $60 or $55. In some cames even less through bundling promos. These plans didn't include roaming on the Rogers Network like all the plans do right now.
So I'm iffy if it will include Extend.

I know Rogers will not offer Extended coverage for free on the older and better value. Those nice and juicy 6GB in the $60-$70 range. Instead it is available on their more expensive share everything plans. So I imagine Bell and Telus will do the same as well as Videotron.

So people whether with Videotron or another provider should call in and check before they turn on their Roaming ON. Last thing anyone needs is to get dinged with $50 a GB of overages in some cases.

    Question about these roaming agreements.

Does Bellus get anything out of Videotron other than money for roaming? Can they offer any coverage or is it just cash? Much like the Rogers agreement. It's really just money. Rogers doesn't offer any coverage to Bellus right?

    @Rogue17
Did some reading about Bellus's extend. They say all 4G HSPA/LTE phones work no matter the plan.
And as of now, they only need Extend in Manitoba. (And some of the Tbaytel areas ). It would be silly for them to change their policy on that and force people over to new plans. Especially since they're making this extra money from these roaming agreements. But we are talking about corporations, so who knows what Bellus will do. So I guess it is a good idea, to call and check.
