If when GV requires a credit card, I'm outa there. Too many good low cost Voip providers with great service. In fact, I don't see how Google can charge for phone service unless they have LIVE customer support. Do they have live customer support for anything?

Definitely no Fi for me then. That was an easy decision. Thanks for the heads up.

    Lightbulb

I beg to differ, I do not have Google Voice number, but I do use Hangouts to make calls to PSTN as back up to magicApp. Even both stop offering free calling to PSTN in United States, I still have Vonage® Mobile App and RingTo Beta for free calling within north America.

Not only I do not have to pay for calling PSTN within north America, I do not have to pay for mobile phone service either as I use FreedomPop with 1000 MB LTE data free of charge every month and unlimited cable Wi-Fi access.

Time to port out of GV and port in to ring.to and see how their forwarding works.

Edit; seems like it only applies if you are going to Fi, which I won't be using. GV may still hang on for a while yet.

Well I have seven gVoice accounts, only three of which I actually use, and none of which are published or called directly, so I think I'm safe even if I do decide to spring for a Nexus 6 and try Fi.

looks like google voice is scheduled to die..

geez read that verge article again folks. if you get Fi, then you run the risk of no more Google Voice -- FOR YOU. so don't get Fi, instead stay with your current carrier, and you'll still have your GV.

the Gloom & Doom rumors are going to start all over again about Google Voice getting killed yet again. this is like the same nonsense when people were saying GV is dead because Hangouts can do voip calls now.

if you get on Project Fi, then GV is going to be dead to you. but GV should still work fine for everyone else who are not on Fi. So stay very far away from Fi if you want your GV.

What's wrong with having one account on regular gVoice and another for Fi?
