    Moto X Pure

Anyone else decide to get the Moto X Pure? Mine's on order and should be delivered on the 15th. At least, that's what it says so far.

If US Cellular gives me heat about it, I'll threaten to move to Verizon. They allow the Nexus 6 and this shouldn't be any different.

Samsung made an iPhone (no removable battery, no memory card slot) and called it Galaxy S6, so that ended my interest in Samsung for the moment. I'd accept one or the other, but both is a bummer.

Removable battery no, though it'll be interesting to see how hard it is to replace if need be but MicroSD yes up through 128GB and maybe more as it comes available.

I assume the microsd slot will be in the same place as on the Play.

That's good to know. I'm planning on getting the new Moto G for a similar but smaller experience. I think it's all I can afford for the winter season.

Not sure if this tips your hand any, but Motorola is offering 24 month 0% financing for the Pure. Also they offer motocare for 2 years for 79.99, which includes 3 replacements @ 50$ deductible. If you have things like insurance, you may find that you can make it work out math-wise.

For me, I didn't really want to mess with my ancient 1000 minute plan with 5GB data. It just made sense to buy the device. More importantly, if USCC does something I don't like, I can just move with the device.

Admittedly, 5.7" screen is a bit... well... large.

Yes, that's the thing, the size of the phone is just too big for me. The financing is excellent though.

So we can buy a Pure from Motorola and USCC will activate it? I always thought you had to get a "Branded" phone...

Technically they should. They will activate Nexus 6 from other carriers, and iPads and iPhones of certain vintage from other carriers. It's not a hard and fast 'no off-network phones' anymore, but they may claim the X Pure has to be tested on their network before they'd allow it. If that's the case, I will happily drop them and move to Verizon.

USCC has said on Facebook when asked that they have to work it out with Motorola and then they will support it. I don't intend to wait long (it took them about a month to validate the Nexus 6 on their network). If we can't work something out, I'll consider porting out.

Received phone today but they sent me silver instead of champagne. Contacted them, they said 'use it, wait until champagne is back in stock, and then we'll exchange it'. The question will be whether I want to go pick a fight with US Cellular just to have to do it again with a replacement. Apparently they have to register the ESN for 3G to work, so it isn't just a SIM move situation, etc. like on Verizon.

Have a look over in the teamuscellular forum in the Rumor Mill section, page 7 of the moto x thread, it looks like USCC can activate it if they tell the system it's a nexus 6, but it sounds like some CSRs won't know how to do it.

Was thinking that may work. Moto is going to send me the right phone and then I'll get on that. I'll have to go over to TeamUSCC and see if people know if Band12 is enabled for USCC. I know it's disabled for Tmo, but not sure if it's just Tmo's MNC-MCC or not.

Its not picking a fight, just helping them create a routine procedure for something that is going to be happening more and more in the coming months. They may even figure out how to do a bulk import of the global list of ESN for that model which I'm or Motorola would be happy to provide them

Every other carrier figured out how to accomplish this before the device was in the hands of people. However, it appears I can get someone to just put it in as a Nexus 6. Will figure that all out when I get my replacement.

All activated. I took it to an indirect and they mistyped a number in the IMEI/MEID. The guy over in the Moto X 2015 thread on TeamUSCC took care of it. Woot.
