    Vancouver Verizon Carrier Aggregation live!

Was passing by a tower in my hometown of Union, NJ today and can definitely say CA is live! I was getting faster than usual speeds on Band 2 which I posted in the speed test thread, but I ran another test and got 87 down on Band 2, impossible with a single 10MHz channel. Congratulations! Verizon has finally launched CA in our market. I bet they will deploy it at a rapid pace too. The best network is about to get a whole lot faster.

Wow. Impressive! Would love to have those speeds! I'm stuck in a pretty rural city with band 13 only.
Your results may vary. Network performance differs per user location.

The fastest I've seen in my area of Ft Lauderdale FL is 35MB/s, but it usually tops out at 20 inside my house.

How do you get confirmation? Is there an engineering screen that someone can post?

The max DL speed a single 10x10 channel can pull is 73mbps. I achieved 94 Mbps on Band 2, which in my market (NYC metro), is 10x10. As for an engineering screen, it's widely known that iOS doesn't report ca, and widely known that the iPhone 6s doesn't display channel bandwidths in Field Test due to a bug that still isn't fixed in the latest iOS 9.1 beta 5.

Will carrier aggregation extend the footprint of the cells coverage at all? I live in a marginal coverage area and can hang onto 1 bar of band 13 outside right now at about -117 dbm, inside it will go to about -120 to -122 dbm for a split second before it switches to 1x or 3g. Didn't know if this would allow them to turn up the transmitters on the cells due to the boost in capacity since they have a larger allocation/more efficient use of spectrum to cover more area.

To me it seems the only thing that will help you is densification, RRU's, or an LTE femtocell.

I noticed that same site now pushes out 5 bars LTE near the cvs where just a month ago it was only 3 bars LTE on band 2. So maybe it's possible they turned the power up or CA is helping make the signal stronger?

Nice! Hopefully somebody with a rooted Samsung can post a screenshot in Service Mode just to verify. If they are using B13+B2.....I wonder if they will also use B13 + B4??

Edit: Where's milan when we need him?

CA means carrier aggregation in the downlink. It lets your phone receive data on two different frequencies at a time for faster maximum and overall throughput.

CA stands for Carrier Aggregation, it combines disparate pieces of spectrum and turn them into one big fat pipe for data to travel through to get to your phone. Assuming if Verizon is aggregating 20 MHz B4 and 10 MHz B2, you'll get a theoretical downlink speed of 225Mbps. Exciting stuff!!
