We regret to inform you that after 15 long years, PlatinumTel's journey in wireless has come to an end and we will no longer offer service effective the end of January. Accordingly, activations have been disabled, and your ability to top-up will soon be stopped as well. Please begin to port your customers to new providers. PIN requirements for port-outs have been disabled.

GIV mobile will be shutdown as well. Please Port out your NUMBERS ASAP!

What may we say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? Romans 8:31.

What the heck ? Does that effect GIV mobile also since Ptel is the parent company ? Why is there such short notice of only 10 days.

I have a little over $8 on my Paygo account that was set to expire on February 16. The phone number was irrelevant to me. Guess I am a little surprised I was not notified. I reckon I'm only garbage in Ptel's eyes.

Apparently there is just too much competition in the T-Mo space--splits up the pie into pieces that are too small. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of this from Sprint and AT&T MVNOs. And Ptel was one of the older, more established brands too, with a decent reputation.

the dream! wifey does not want to depend on other people for our bill. happy wife > LTE

if anyone is in a similar boat to me, i'm probably going with Consumer Cellular.

750 minutes, 1500 texts, 500mb between 2 lines for $40/month + taxes. slightly more limiting but should be enough for our own usage.

Very sad! I've always liked PTel CS and its mobile services.
