Unlocking Nokia Lumia 640 AT&T Go Phone

I have a Nokia Lumia 640 AT&T Go Phone. It has not been activated and I took the SIM out before I turned the phone on to use the phone on wifi. I got an unlock code from AT&T. It says to put a non-AT&T SIM in to unlock but I don't have one. Is these another way to prompt for the unlock code input?

    You're very welcome!
I have the Lumia 640 and really like it.
I got mine on Black Friday as a GoPhone and am using mine on T-Mobile prepaid.
My brother also got one and is using it on his T-Mobile line as well.
He's getting blazing fast speed on LTE.

I got my Lumia 640 a few days ago at walmart for $32 on sale. I wanted to see what a Windows phone is like. I am with Tracfone on Androids, which I am happy with. I may use the Lumia on Tracfone BYOP eventually, or I will just use it as a wifi device.

They are nice to use as a mini tablet on WiFi.
You got a good deal on it.

Did you debrand it or do any T-Mobile ROM flashing? I have one of these and use it on T-Mobile. I managed to install the 10 Preview, but it still has all the AT&T bloat (which I want to get rid of). Aside from the T-Mobile apps, what is the advantage to flashing a T-Mo ROM?

I assume the main advantage is that B12 is enabled if you flash the T-Mobile ROM.

I didn't do any of that.
I just left it as it was.
The great thing with Windows Phones is you can easily remove the AT&T junk from it.
Just press on the offending apps and a menu comes up with several options such as pin to home screen and uninstall. I uninstalled all of the AT&T junk off of mine as I have with other AT&T Windows Phones that I have.

I have not yet updated it to Windows 10. I'm going to wait a while until it's stable.
Plus I'm pleased with it as it is.
