T-Mobile pay go, no funds expiration?

I am on a monthly $30 5gig T-Mobile prepaid plan that I really don't use but I have a nice sized balance in my account for several more months, like I said I haven't really used this account at all, can I switch it to the $3 a month paygo and not worry about funds expiration? (By the way the $30 plan allows unlimited music freedom and full tethering up to data allotment)

Doesn't the paygo $3 push the expiration date of funds out every time it renews , after all it's still charging you monthly even if you don't use a single minute or text.
